A day in the life of a Fighter/Coach living and training out of a Muay Thai and MMA Camp in Mexico!!11/5/2026 Ive been living, training, fighting and coaching across South East Asia and Mexico for 20 years this year and I can say outright that for most people it’s not a luxurious lifestyle.. For me I’ve lived a lot of my dreams put in a lot of hard work and also lived some of my worst nightmares. Across this many years involved in combat sports you can’t help but run into some medical issues and most likely some insurance complications. Alongside those it’s not uncommon to have visa issues and problems with renewing your stay in a country. At times that can certainly feel like you’re not wanted in a country that you consider home and at other times you get to feel a kindness from people that you just don’t expect. This is what my typical day/night looks like whilst Im building up my training business in Mexico and continuing to fight as often as I can. This is going to start outside of the daily sequence that most would expect but I hope as you read through it that will make sense. Monday – Friday, I get up at 22:00 and have a quick pre-workout before doing about 20 mins of cardio and then work the heavy bags and footwork drills for about 45 mins before cooling down with some abdominal work and stretching. Then a quick shower, breakfast and into the office to start my 8hrs of night work (A necessary part of trying to build a training camp on the opposite side of the world to where people expect) Following on from that I usually do 45 mins of conditioning in the morning and have a quick meal before I go and try to get a few hours of sleep Skin infections are fairly common in gyms across the country so its important to remember to shower as soon as possible after training to make sure that you are able to clean yourself before your pores close over and trap in the bacteria. I get up again around 14:00 and have a protein shake before cleaning down the mats and going for a 5km run at around 15:30 The afternoon session starts around 16:00 with an hour of boxing work followed by about 90 mins of Muay Thai Then after the evening session its time for a high protein and medium carb meal before I do some stretching and meditation I’m usually left feeling fairly exhausted and head off to bed by 19:30 ready to get up again at 22:00. Monday through Friday are pretty much the same week in and week out and then I take Sunday as a rest day when I actually get to go out and enjoy the beauty of the country around me. It’s a great life and if you are just here to get ready for a fight or get in better shape then you will have some extra downtime and get to enjoy a lot more of the local area. Everyone is welcome here no matter what your background or skill level, I hope to see you out here training some time soon!!
